Poetry Plus
The following events were  based round a specific poet/poets, often with other activities such as music.  For some poets we built a specific environment.  But by and large we know very little about these events since often all we have is the original leaflet and our ever fading memories.  We do not for instance have the dates when these readings took place, we do know that it was late 60s and early 70s;  therefore they are currently listed alphabetically.   Read More

The Last Poets - Review
Of all the lines included in this collection - a collection which spans almost 20 years, from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s - the one that for me most tellingly sums up The Last Poets comes from the chorus to Suliaman El Hadi’s Blessed Are Those Who Struggle: ‘Bet­ter to die for a noble cause than to live and die a slave’. Terminal Experience - 28th/29th April 1972
Terminal Experience was one of a series of mixed media events (including 'Cube' and 'Kong') which were created by members of Blackie staff, in this case led by Martin Brems;  in conjunction with poets - in this case Dave Calder and Jim Stewart; and musicians, in this case Death Kit, Nick Morgan and Jim Stewart. Have no idea what this event was. We simply have a record that it happened.  It was a private event - which meant by invitation only - and cost the princely sum of  £3.00.   Given the title we suspect that it was an event which included participants painting an area, having tea and coffee and listening to the group Manic Depression.   Read More
