The Male/Female Game

Printer-friendly versionSend by emailPDF version

A game to be played with two groups - one consisting of female players and one consisting of male players.

The game begins with each group of players being invited to consider and reach a definition of the attitudes both of their own sex towards the opposite sex and of their own sex towards itself.

Once common agreement has been reached with the two groups they are both offered a commission to produce a work or works which offer an image of "the essence of the female and the essence of the male".

The two male/female works produced at the Blackie by women players and by men players involved research into the areas of literature; carpentry, the imagery of advertising and documentary imagery; paints and varnishes; photography; calligraphy; as well as various techniques of mechanical construction.
