Sakoba - African Dance Drama - 1990/93/94/95
Sakoba was founded in 1987 by Bode Lawal (dancer and choreographer) and Ola Adeniran (musician and writer).  Sakoba is Yoruba for 'new dawn'' or 'new beginnings'.  The name reflects the Company's commitment to creating new work in Britain drawing on traditional African sources, developing character and creativity  within African dance in the UK and promoting the tradition of story telling theatre. Review of Molissa Fenley at Alsager College, Crewe.
Dance like music is almost always closer to mathematics than those outside the arts might suppose. A generous floor space provided the settings for last night’s recital at Alsager College dance studio - with crisp white floor markings providing the geometry from which Molissa Fenley was to pilot her solo dance exploration. Terminal Experience - 28th/29th April 1972
