The Arts Of Survival
In December 1980, a few days before Christmas, the Blackie learned (in company with 40 other Projects nationally) it would not receive a grant from Arts Council of Great Britain in the coming year.  A Question of  Equity was a piece of Research as to the situation of women in the arts on Merseyside.  It was undertaken by Wendy Harpe and funded by Merseyside Arts.  It was a result of work done by The Women in Arts Research Group which was based at the Blackie, but which operated under the auspice of Mersyside Arts which provided administrative back up. Directors Report On Lorry Theatre - 1969
Lorry Theatre took place very early in the Blackie's history  and it was the first attempt of working with communities in the open air.  Bill Harpe directed the event and, not surpringly, his Report On Lorry Theatre considers the role of the arts and artists when working with audiences who traditionally have had little or no relationships with either.
